Server error: specified cast is not valid

We are seeing a new error in one of our custom views on the standard web console. When dropping down to the 3rd group of nodes we see the error message: "Server error: Specified cast is not valid." This appears to be hit and miss on our groups with a small minority being affected. When I looked into this in the past, I noticed a few nodes have had unknown status due to the service account not being applied to the machine.

Has anyone ran into this before?

We just noticed this with the "Nodes with Problems" resource. We haven't found a fix yet.

Same issue here, we sort by custom property in one resource.When opening the 3rd hierachy group we get the Error: "Server error: Specified cast is not valid" . We also see this happening at random. Some groups work some don't

I've found that the fix listed below corrects the issue, but only temporarily:

From Manage Nodes, select all nodes in the tree group throwing the error. Click Edit Properties. Select the checkbox next to Category, and change the Node Category to "Auto-detected'. Click Submit.

I have seen this issue since upgrading to NPM 12.0.1, and I believe it has something to do with the new 'EC2 Instance' MachineType designation. There is another boolean field in the NodesData table, IsServer, that is being set to 0 (false). When I change all nodes of the 'EC2 Instance' MachineType to 1, that also corrects the issue. I've tried to steer clear of that option as much as possible though.

No change for us - we upgraded to the newest versions of all apps and hotfixes in August, but the problem is still there.
