Fast Polling change not changing?

I am hoping someone can help me out with polling devices. Right now ihave the following setup.
Poll interval for nodes 120 seconds
Node warning interval 120 seconds
But it takes 8 minues or so for the device to go to a down state in order for the alert to be sent.
I notice in the node details that fast polling is set to 420 seconds. I thought fast polling interval was set by the node warning interval under advanced?
Any help would be great.

Never mind I started and stopped the service (reboot would have also worked) and it showed the correct fast polling setting.

Well I got to anxious. Even though the fast polling changed it still takes 8 minutes before the node goes down and an alert is generated.
Any ideas?
