Oracle DB not only SQL

I would like to see Solarwinds support oracle DB not just SQL. Has this been given any thought? SQL is the poor man's version of a DB where Oracle is more enterprise. I also find in many corporate enviroments ( at least the 3 since I have used SW) that the windows server teams handle the SQL where the DBA teams handle Oracle and are much more expierenced in operation, managment, and control of the DB they own.

I'd also like to see this functionality in the future. It seems that most Oracle database instances are built on HA topologies, whereas SQL seems to be on single box setups. We've been asking for this feature from all of our monitoring software vendors.

I'm not ruling it out completely, but support for Oracle DB is not on the roadmap at this time.

Deny what would it take for it to be considered for the roadmap? Is it if enough customers would happen to request support for Oracle that would give it more visability? My company is moving to a monitoring group that all groups DB will feed into. So DBA, unix and network will have their own tools but all will feed central monitoring tool such as concord, tivoli, etc... and they are requesting that all groups tools support oracle DB. I would hate to have to lose solarwinds due to non oracle support.

It would take a lot of customers requesting it. Oracle support is not a small feature to implement, and it would increase the testing matrix forevermore. Finally, we know from our collective experience at other companies that providing customer support is more expensive for a product running Oracle is more expensive than for the same product running on SQL Server.

I'm not saying we won't do it. I'm saying that the demand would have to be pretty high. And for our many thousands of customers and prospects, it's not a common request. If that changes, our roadmap will change. We're nothing if not customer-driven.

At a time when most companies are consolidating costs and moving away from unix/oracle environments to lower TCO environments it would seem a strange move to support Oracle at this time.

We don't have plans to support this in the near future. The costs of developing to this, as well as maintaining this is non-trivial. Plus the costs to our customers to installs and setup are non-trivial as well in comparison to MSFT SQL
