Managing VIP's

Does NPM have the ability to determine the difference between a VIP and an actual server ? We are in the middle of some IT asset management work in which the VIP's are being imported into our asset management databases. I was hoping NPM had something in place to automatically classify, tag, or allow me the ability to remove them in mass. Has anyone dealt with this before ?

What vendor is your load balancer? NPM has been including a lot of F5 functionality lately.

If you are importing the VIPs, can you tag/use Custom Properties as you bring them in? I don't know of a way automagically... john.ta makes a good point about the F5, there might be some creative ways to do it around those virtual servers.

I think any way you can accomplish this will be custom work. Our process is manual, using a bit CP called IsVIP. I'm all about automating to minimize human error though...I'm going to look at the F5 thing when we upgrade to 12.
