Configuring automatic reports ?
DaxVanCamp
Hi,
I'm evaluating Orion network management tool, but I can't seem to find any way to create reports automatically.
It isn't our intention to create the reports manually every month or so, this will take too long.
I know that RMO ( from CA ) has a command line tool that you can run in a batch process so that you get the needed data every month.

There is a Report Scheduler tool but it is an add-on only available
for customers with a maintenance contract.
It takes a snapshot of a report (URL) on the Orion webpage and e-mails it out
on whatever schedule you specify.

Is this a free add-on ?
Is there no other way to gt reports automatically ?
I find it a very usefull tool, but without an automatic report system, it hasn't much chance of getting apporved here !
Any example of the output of that add-on available somewhere ?

Hi,
I think this might be a misunderstanding - the same question ran through my mind when reading the first time about the reports included in V7: when the hell are this reports started ?
In fact the report scheduler is helpful if you want to print or send via mail certain reports to a cetain recipient, but all other reports which are available at the menu bar are launched when accessed via the web interface, so the latest data are in all the time.
But - i found no checkbox to add "Reports" to the menu bars, so added a custom item "Reports" as follows:
"">your-orion-server-adress/.../AllReports.asp".
Hope this helps,
Ralf

Ralf is correct, if you want a custom report page, then you have to create one:
Create a custom view called Reports Page, then add this view to the menu bar:
your-orion-server/.../View.asp
The report scheduler grabs a snap shot of the URL you point it to, and e-mails it
to any address or prints it to a printer (or file?).
Here is a typical report:
