Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Admin of NPM
gbrance
We are currently running the SLX version of NPM to monitor about 4,500 elements. Currently for our company Orion is strictly monitoring just IT equipment. However we have another group(broadband group) that has Network equipment that services our end customers that IT is not responible for. We were looking at adding this other non-it equipment into Orion. Currently they have some home-brewed monitoring system that isn't nearly as effective as Orion. However my boss wants to minimize the work required from IT to add these nodes into Orion and daily administration. The added in Nodes could bring in a additional 4,000 elements to be monitored. We want to push as much administration as possible back onto the Broadband group as possible. However when we give them administrative access we don't want them to be able to screw stuff up that we are monitoring. I have figured out a good way to restrict access on the website so they can admin the setup of there equipment on the website but not anything else. However how can we give them access to add elements and remove elements to Orion without giving them access to everything that in NPM? Can the Remote Admin package do this? Does this make sense?
