95th percentile view

Hello,

I'm trying to create a single view for my boss that will show the 95th percentile on all of our WAN circuits on one page. What is the best way to do this? I can't seem to find a good way to display the 95th percentile from multiple devices/interfaces on one page.

You could use this. You could also create a custom property and modify the report so that it is limited by that property:

I'm not looking for a report though. My boss wants this to be her view when she logs into Solarwinds with the ability to adjust the dates for the 95th percentile.

A report can be in a view that you create. A view can be specified for a user's account or a group of users accounts.

Why is a report not acceptable?

If you modify the report I referenced to be limited by a start date custom property and an end date custom property, those properties could be edited as necessary.

Would my boss be able to change the time frame from within the view, or does that time need to be adjusted within the report creator?

If the report query referenced custom property start date and custom property end date, then dates could be adjusted outside of the report.

If I understand your request, you are looking for a custom view displaying the "Percent Utilization" resource for certain critical interfaces within your organization? I'm assuming critical interfaces and not a full list of all your interfaces.

I would like a 95th percentile bandwidth view for multiple WAN interfaces.

WAN1 interface

[95th percentile graph w/ ability to select time window]

WAN2 interface

[95th percentile graph w/ ability to select time window]

And so on...

So filtering in SWQL can be done like this:

Wildcards The wildcard character in SWQL syntax is: %. Example: Node.Caption Like 'AX3%'

Filtering by Custom Property The proper syntax to filter by custom property is: dataType.CustomProperties.propertyName

Example filter to only show nodes with the custom property City that matches Atlanta: Node.CustomProperties.City = 'Atlanta'

You would want a property to manipulate so that only certain interfaces were queried. And the date filtering, whatever that looks like, would need to be handled by custom properties as well if the expectation is date changes that affect the report (but not hard coded into the report).

To be able to see 95 percentile lines in charts, make sure to enable(is enabled by default) this under Orion Web Console -> Settings -> Web Console Settings -> Chart Settings

If you're not afraid of a little keyboard editing of html, you can easily change the 10 days to show the last 7 days or last 23 hours or last 17 minutes or last pretty-much-anything. Here's how:

Look for "SampleSize" and "Period" in the code you copied & pasted

Note the SampleSize is 1H, or One Hour.

Node the Period is the Last 10 Days
