Licence Manager doesn't work thru Proxy

I am in the middle of a migration of Orion 9.1 SP4 from one server to another and now I'm stuck. I cannot use license manager as all our Internet access is through a proxy firewall, and as far as I can tell, LM only goes through port 80. I've open a ticket with support but I guess I'm out of luck of doing this migration this weekend. Anyone else out there with ideas on how to get this licesnse from one machine to another today?

Hi,

Unfortunately in a such case, only the Customer Service can help you out. They have to reset your license.

Ensure you select "Customer Service" in the SolarWinds Application field while creating the ticket so that it will be directly assigned to the Customer Service team. This will speed up the process.

I figured that. I really had hoped that they had built in some way into their software that they would use the IE Proxy settings, or at least be able to set the proxy port number.

Unfortuately, the answer that support emailed me, which was "RTFM" (just a link telling me to read Appendix A in the manual), was not the correct answer. Yours, however, was the correct answer.

I'm facing the same issue. I need to open a case to deactivate the license since the License Manager is unable to connect to Solarwinds site. How can we imagine a product that can't let us configure a proxy to access the web. A lot of customer don't have a direct access to the web and have a proxy installed !

Thanks for the feedback. Orion licensing has never worked through a web proxy so this wasn't added to the deactivation utility either (License Manager), but we absolutely see your point. Good news! We're working on new licensing components that will allow connection to the web using a proxy. As these components are released in future releases of our products, you will be able to deactivate and activate through a web proxy.
