Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Notification if NPM fails

I was wondering if there is any sort of notification if the Orion server actually fails. We lost power last night and everything went down. We had no way of knowing until we came in this morning.

Your best bet is going to be to set up some sort of external monitor of the solarwinds server, there isn't really a reliable way for the server itself to tell you it just lost power and/or communication with the rest of the world.
In theory it would be a nice service for the Solarwinds company to offer/perform for its customers. Let your solarwinds box send a heartbeat to them, and they send you an email/page alert if it misses some number of them.
I get nervous whenever I don't get a "node alert" for an extended period of time.

You might want to review the Hot-Standby Management pack.

Fortunately for us we use N-Able as well. N-Able monitors our server for connectivity. They will notify us if the server goes down. So I guess we will use N-Able to monitor Orion and if we lose power to all devices, they will text us and let us know. I just didn't know if Orion had this option as well. Thanks for the responses.
