We are in the process of virtualizing our servers and wanted to know if anyone had any experience installing & running NPM v10.1 (w/NTA v3.7) on a VMWare ESX v4 server. All advice welcome.
I don't have NTA, but my setup is a virtual SQL server (separate guest than orion) running Server 2008 R2 Core and SQL 2008 R2 (not a MS supported os/app combo, but I am just curious about seeing Core), and a 2008 R2 Full running NPM 10.1.2, APM 4.0.1, and NCM 6.1 and it works great for me.
(oh, people may tell you not to virtualize the DB, but I do and I know atleast one other person on thwack did and neither of us are having issues with it)
My entire Solarwinds installation is virtualized and I've never had one issue. I have NPM 10.1 virtual on a singe server, then the SQL Server is also virtual (2008). I'm monitoring almost 500 nodes and doing tons of custom pollers.

I've got our NPM our NCM virtual and our SQL on a standalone server and it works very well.
