Problem installing the free subnet calculator

Good day all.

I downloaded and tried to install the free Solarwinds Subnet Calculator, however, I recieved a 'Error 1402' message:

"Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\COMCTL.ListViewCtrl.1\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

I have been able to install other programs without any problems.

I'm running Windows XP SP3.  I tried to install the same program on my other PC running Windows XP x64 but that too fails due to lack of support.

Any insights into the 1402 problem or maybe a different calculator for XP 64-bit?

Bjoern,

The error looks like a permission problem. Are you running the tool (SolarWinds Subnet Calculator) with Administrator rights ? you can check if the user has admin rights by following path

Control panel > Administrative tools > Computer management > Users and groups.
