Restart SNMP shows reboot for windows

A couple of things. When a NIC on windows shows "Unknown" status, basically i have to restart the SNMP agent and it would resolve this issue. I am still not sure if this is a bug with ORION or something on our end. However, each time i restart the SNMP the event log on ORION shows "reboot" status. Is there a way we can fix this?

I also experience the same event logs when I restart the SNMP service on my Windows servers.

as i understand it, the windows snmp service has an uptime figure as part of it which obviously resets to zero when the service restarts.

Orion see this new uptime figure and because it is much lower than the last uptime it polled. It assumes the server has rebooted.

Not really sure how you could get around this.

when the interface/device goes into the unknown state Orion counts it as down time so when the SNMP process is restarted then it responds again and gets flag as rebooted.

If you have any devices on less than pristine service lines then when Orion looses sight of them many of them will return with a reboot notification also. At least this is what i see on some of the devices i monitor.
