Server upgrade to SP1

We are planning to upgrade my primary polling engine from 2008 R2 to SP1. Will this have any effect on my Orion tool, except the downtime during the server update?

Can i also know the effects for a physical to virtual migration?

Currently my primary is a physical box and i am planning to convert it to virtual.
