Alerts and Time periods

I have been trying to get alerts to work in a specified time period. ie I set a node alert to be active from 830 am to 830 pm. and if the node goes down during this period the alert works. the issue is if the node goes down prior to 830 am. when the alert period stars I receive no notification of a node down therefore do not know that the node is down.

any one gog this working correctly.

What about making two alerts? One for each time period?
