Best way to find the type of device.

We have a Orion NPM in our network. When I referred to the Orion.Nodes table,  I could find the MachineType associated with every node. The value for this field is usually a Vendor specific identifier for every node. 

So what can be the best way to know the type of device. For example, how can I differentiate if it is a switch, router, computer system etc from this table or any other table.
