Orion Website Error after upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5.1

After performing an upgrade of Orion from 8.1 to 8.5.1, I can no longer login to the Orion Website. In fact, I am not even given the prompt to enter a username and pasword. All I get is the following error after trying to get to the login page:

An error has occurred with the Orion website.

Additional Information

You do not have permission to access this view.

I have stopped and started all services and re-ran the
configuration wizard and still get the same thing. I
checked the OrionWeb.log and the last entry states:
"2007-10-23 14:25:48,904 [1] WARN  SolarWinds.Orion.Web.DAL.ViewsDAL
- No views found with ViewID=0"

Any ideas?

We looked at your case, and here's what I got from engineering:

In the 8.1 version the user created the DirectLink account, but he did not set MenuName and Default Home Page.

There are several workarounds you can try:

1. Disable/Delete your Direct Link account

2. Change IP to localhost or 127.0.0.1 then he won't pass the login page

3. Correct the database and manually set HomePageViewID as 1 or another one

This happened to me, too. When upgrading (?) to 8.5 and then 8.5.1 (same problem) DirectLink default screen came up and we could not get the login page. No menu items either so could not get to the "Accounts" to disable DirectLink. SW techie had to dig us out and even now our web has some display problems. I am sure we'll get it ironed out but we could not use our web console for a while! I am thinking maybe they need to advise people to disable DirectLink before upgrading. Have not yet read the new admin guide to see how DirectLink should now be configured. We;re just living without it for now. -Debbi

I have the same problem. I tried removing DirectLink from the database with no luck.

I had the same problem when I upgraded. For some reason (and this is just a "fix" to get you up and working not an answer you want to hear I'm sure) I logged into the system as admin (no password) and reset the admin password to something I had not used before. This fixed the problem so that I could get in via the web interface, but I still don't know why it did this, nor do I have a complete long term fix.

I removed the directlink account from the database.

I tried using 127.0.0.1 on the server and I get the same error.

The Homepageview is already 1 in the database.
