NPM Reports

Hi,

I have been using NPM, NCM and NTA for a few months now and so far with regards to real time reporting and monitoring, this products are great. What did put it down is the lack of reporting I get from NPM "Reports" views. I have done the steps stated on the error and yes everything is running and accessible. All three modules are doing its job, I get alerts and still view everything real time.

Serveral times, I hit Historical NetFlow Reports then Top 50 Receivers - Last 24 Hours, I get the error below. There is no function to save reports to PDF and most importantly is the lack of graphs/charts on the report.

Orion Website Error

The Orion website is currently unable to display this page. Orion polling and alerting services often continue running, though this page cannot be displayed. Please take the following steps to attempt to alleviate the issue: Log in to the website again and navigate to another Orion page, allowing you to isolate the error to this page. Ensure the Orion services are still running. Check that your SQL Server is still running and accessible. Please notify SolarWinds of this error. We will address and help you fix the issue. Your specfic error is: Request timed out.

While I can't help you with the report time out issue on your website, I can suggest a workaround.  Opening a ticket with support would probably get the time out issue resolved.  In the meantime, have you tried opening the report in Report Writer and switching to the Preview view?  While the request times out on your website, you should still be able to open it in report writer.  After it opens in the Preview view, switch it back to design mode and then click File.  If you go down to Export, one of the options is to export the report to an Adobe PDF file.  While I agree this isn't the most convenient method of opening the report, it should work (and get your report exported as a PDF) until you can get support to help you resolve the timeout issue. 

Once you have the timeout issue fixed and can open the report on the web console, you can still get the report exported as a PDF.  If you install any PDF writer type program (for example, Primo PDF - http://www.primopdf.com), you can get the report into a PDF file.  Just open a report, click the "Printable Version" button in the top right hand corner of the page, go to file | print in your browser and select the PDF writer program as your Printer.  Programs like PrimoPDF are also useful for capturing a long web page as a PDF file.  (It works better than trying to do a print screen of a page that is longer than you can see in your browser window.)

The inclusion of charts and graphs into Orion reports is a long standing requested feature.  Hopefully, it's one SolarWinds is working on.
