Pre-requisites for installing additional pollers.

We are going to install additional pollers in our environment.

I have been through the NPM administration guide for installation, but I would like to know what additional steps I need to take care.

What would be the potential problems I am going to get when when I install it and steps to resolve them.

Any other files that needs to be copied in new pollers apart from Custom properties, reports, MAPs, views and alerts to be fully functional

The most common thing I've seen when I run into problems with additional poller installs is the inability to communicate with the Orion server on port UDP/17777(SW Information Service) and communicating back to the database. This needs to be reachable so you can do management functions between the two pollers, such as moving nodes.

You will also see that some services are missing or down-such as the Advanced Alert Manager. Don't be alarmed by this. Advanced Alerting is done on the primary poller only. And services that are not installed are not required on additional pollers. On the subject of Alerts, however, you may run into a problem with the Basic Alerts. Each Basic alert is tied to a poller, and as such you'll see a utility on your new polling engine. If you use basic alerts, you'll need to recreate or copy those alerts onto the new engine.
