Use an API results

I have a new platform coming into my environment and it does not expose much of its status to SNMP. But it is exposed to their API.

What I am trying to do is take the results of their API and store the results in Orion. I need to have the results of the API call in Orion to be able to alert on and keep historical usage.

Any Ideas ?

What kind of device is it? I ask because as far as I'm aware I don't believe this is possible, but yet I'm not entirely sure. There might possibly be a way to do something through SDK I believe for the API side. But I myself have not worked with the SDK long enough to say how.

If you could share the type and make and model of the device, it could help clear things up. And thwack is a very large community, there could be a chance someone else worked with the device and might be able to provide more help than I can.

Except in the cases where Solarwinds corporate builds a custom integration you will find that NPM isn't going to do much for you for interacting with an API, but you can build up almost any integration you can dream up using SAM. So I'd be focusing on learning what kinds of scripts you can put together to collect whatever metrics you need.

This sounds possible - But of course I do not Have SAM - The new platform is a Network device. My Orion environment consists of NPM, NCM, NTA, VNQM and UDT. And I was informed that two other such platforms are coming into the environment. I see some major research in my future. Looking at these platforms as server/service and not from a network stand point.
