Cisco 3850 StackSub interfaces showing unknown status?

Hi all,

For those of you running Cisco 3850 stacks, do your StackSub interfaces show as unknown status? We've just started rolling them out and I can't get the interface status to report correctly, which is an issue for us as we have a custom property defined for them that sends an alert whenever one of these interfaces goes down (lets us know there's potentially a loose connection etc). These interfaces poll fine on 3750 switch stacks.

For reference, we are running NPM 11.5.2 and IOS XE version 03.03.05SE on the 3850 units.

Apologies, should have closed this one off earlier. I raised a case with Solarwinds (898609) and it boils down to the fact that the Cisco MIB isn't reporting the status directly. From the case notes:

Hi John,

We have reviewed all of the items you sent us, the reported issue of StackSub-STx-x interfaces showing as unknown for your Cisco 3850 switches is node related and the following is what we found.

Cisco OID to find related interface index ID's is: .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2, all related index ID's from SNMP walks and SolarWinds interface table from diax are an exact match (we are polling the correct interfaces as expected).

However, the OID for related port status is: .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8 and SNMP walks show the following.

Correct 3750 node:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.5179 = INTEGER: 1 (StackPort1).1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.5180 = INTEGER: 1 (StackSub-St1-1).1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.5181 = INTEGER: 1 (StackSub-St1-2)

Incorrect 3850 nodes:

4 = unknown state, so the nodes themselves are reporting as unknown and this issue is not related to SolarWinds software.
The results for OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8 are the same across all StackSub's that report as unknown.

We've just upgraded to IOS XE 03.06.03E on our test stack and it appears to have resolved the issue from initial testing - interfaces are now showing as up/down on NPM rather than unknown. When I looked on TAC there were quite a few related bugs to stack port and switch change OIDs in older versions of the code so you may be looking at a code upgrade.
