Is there a log file monitor in the pipeline? It's starting to get embarrasing!

Is there a log file monitor in the pipeline? It's starting to get embarrasing telling people that we don't have the ability with Solarwinds to check for particular error strings in flat file text or log files. I have heard grumblings that our old monitoring tools had this functionality.

Any update on this? I'm a "would-be-customer" and liked the looks of things in the trial period, but the lack of a log monitor is keeping me from purchasing.

General log management is something we're thinking about. While I agree that it's a reasonable request in APM, it's not something that's coming up a lot. When we talk to folks, most of the ones who want something to solve their log management problem want a lot of other features beyond the ones you describe.

When we talk to folks, most of the ones who want something to solve their log management problem want a lot of other features beyond the ones you describe.

Since we agree that it seems reasonable for this to be an APM request it seems logical to implement a component monitor that does this. This will address the "low hanging fruit" by that I mean the people out there that need a simple solution to fill a gap allowing them to move away from other products.

For people that need a more robust enterprise log management system, it seems logical that a new product may be on the horizon, something comparable to Splunk in functionality.
