i am running npm 8.0.1 and getting the same problem. the 5510-5520 stacks take hours to list resources, non-stacked take seconds. i have a large number of these stacks and more coming in....this is looking bad... if i leave it, takes about 2 hours to list 144 ports. there is no noticeable cpu/memory resources being used for this on either side.....
probably vendor or specific hardware related then. I have quite a few Cisco 6500s loaded out and don't have any issues (minute or two). Anyone from SolarWinds - have you seen this before/Known issue?
Well, I am having the slow to list resources once I have upgraded to 8.1. It's not happening with all the devices though. It's happening very randomly. On 8.0 I was not having that issue.
I've had similar problems in the past with some of our 3COM 4400 stacks and managed to track it down to SNMP and ICMP on the switch because of the way the primary switch acts as the SNMP interface for the stack it was very slow and also at times we were missing pings and stats.
We later found out the 3COM stacks SNMP and ICMP resources are given a very low priority and this was what was causing the problem so we gave each switch an IP address and monitored each switch individually and it solves the problem, not ideal but it works. One of many reasons why we are gradually mifgrating to Cisco.

I am seeeing this issue after upgrading to 9.5 SP2. It seems to be on all devices, the system takes for ever to Discovering Interfaces and Determining supported MIBs.
It takes aprrox five seconds per interface, so a very long time on a loaded up 6500!
I would recommend logging a support case
