Feature Suggestion: Chronic Alert/Status

When you have a lot of sites/circuits/nodes, without running reports it is pretty hard to know which of these items is chronically down.

If there was an alert that would go off lettings you know X is chronically down or even a canned report of chronic nodes this would be a very proactive thing out of the box. A chronic status on the node would be cool as well.

And the chronic limit should be customizeable.

Throw in the ability to put a node in "monitor" status, meaning extensive and more "highlighted" monitoring for NOC staff would be nice.

like, marking a node for "special attention" and writing a special action for the specific node when status = xx

The original request for this is nearing a year old. Can you give us some idea where this is as far as implementation- perhaps in the 10.2 release?

We are approaching the second year on this request. Is this something we can expect or do you not see the need for it your customers do?

Not sure if this helps or not, but you can mark nodes as Unmanaged and they will stop triggering any alerts you have built against them. You can also use the Unmanage utility on the Server to schedule times to Unmanage certain nodes/interfaces/applications and use the Windows Task Scheduler to have them kick the actions off at set times.

Hope this will help you a bit until there can be some more custom options set since I do know that the Unmanaged option isn't always the best for some people since it stops ALL statistic collection during the time it's unmanaged.

Interfaces also have an option like this called "Unpluggable" this lets the interface go into any status without triggering alerts, but still giving you the ability to collect ICMP/SNMP Statistics from the Interface.
