Manual Node adding using SQL inserts
Seraphym
does anyone know how to add nodes manually using the SQL insert statement ?
i tried adding IP and community string, but Orion doesn't recognize the new node.
which parameters need to be inserted so Orion can start monitoring ?
thx in advance,
josch

There are many other parameters added besides just IP, SNMP & Node ID.
Most likely there are too many additional parameters to make this feasible.
- interface ID & index, Interface Tx & Rx bandwidth, Netobject, etc.
Then there's the matter of setting the monitoring intervals, statistics polling intervals & alerts...
I suppose you could do a compare of the DB before & after adding a node with the Orion Manager app, to see what changed....if you are into a lot of pain ;^)
However this may border on reverse engineering the NetPerfmon app.... check your EULA.

thx network guru for the answer.
this sound pretty much like a pain in the a**.
is there anyway to add a number of nodes from a list ? network discovery is not an option, the nodes are not in the same subnet.

I called support on this issue when we were first considering buying Orion and was told that there is no method to use an API or scriptologically enter nodes into Orion at this time. We do it with Openview now and it would be great to be able to do it with Orion. It's something I'm waiting anxiously for.

sounds too bad. i got approx. 800 routers here to add...
network discovery is not an option (many different subnets). so i guess i need to manually add the devices
some workmates from austria are trying to figure out a script way to add them. maybe they are succesfull ? if so, i'll post it here.
