Service stops

Anyone have any idea why the Network Performance Monitor service would stop on its own?

It has happened twice in the last week, both times very early in the morning, around 3am. There is a single entry in the System Event logs that just states, "The SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor service entered the stopped state."

The only thing I can think of that has changed is the Cirrus installation was upgraded to 3.5 recently, but I don't really see a connection there.

You don't happen to be out of database space do you? Also I would check your maintenance schedule. Seems like it might be maintenance related.

I agree. Check you database size and the amount of disk space where the database is located.

I just went through a bout of my service shutting down. I believe my problem is my polling engine is being taxed to heavily. I ended up installing the Poller Tuning tool and lowered my polling (so far so good...now I just need to purchase another polling engine).

Man you guys are good. Sure enough, out of space. So, what can I get to monitor Solarwinds and notify me if it is down...

Couldn't you just use Orion to monitor disk space where the Database resides and fire off an alert(email) when it gets to a certain point?

Hi,

I encountered the same problem (NetPerfMon service stopped by itself) so I verified the space on the SQL server and indeed there was no space left. The question that I have is as follows :

- the logical drive where my Orion DB is located has arround 200 GB, while the Orion DB itself has arround 37 GB (so basically there was plenty of free space for the DB to grow), but when I tried to shrink the DB using Microsoft SQL Server Managment Studio , I found out that the currently allocated space was 37 GB and available space free was almost 1 MB (0%).

How can I set the allocated space for DB to be much more higher than current one? I've enabled autogrowth of the DB and set it to 20%...but is this the right action to take? Will this increase the allocated space for the DB?

Please help me out with this.
