Hi everyone, mybe the inclined audience would help an Orion Newbie with three questions I was not able to find in the forums or in the Admin paper...
I am using SolarWindos Orion 9.0, and were thinking of purschasing it.
1) It seems that the Interface status which is reflected on network maps is entirely based on polling results. My manager wants changes of interface stati displayed within 10 to 15 secs after change (excluding page relaods) . In my current config it takes up to 45 secs. Is there a way apart from changing the poll time, maybe to "link" the trap to the network map, so that the change will be reflected almost instantaneously. (I have changed map cache timeout and page reload times to their minimum values, but were talking approx 1500 ports, polling will probably cause loooooads of network traffic ;-)
2) Is there a way to unamange single interfaces of a switch? We do not want to monitor all interfaces of our switches, so that the switches arent displayed as "Warning at least one or more interfaces are down". I tried to do it in node management, bu the option is greyed out. I just dont want to delete the interface
3) is there a way to mass rename interfaces on a switch? My - rather trivial - problem is that the interface names detected by discovery are so long, that I wont be able to make out the interface number when drawing maps, owing to the fact that there is no horizontal scrollbar in the selection box in map maker
Thanks for your help in advance
best, Georg Schwartz
