Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Wireless Network Pack major drawback.
cnorborg
The major drawback I see to the wireless network management pack is that its geared towards one big wireless network. The main Orion package lends itself quite nicely to monitoring a ton of different networks, ie: we monitor close to 100 different sites with Orion. We do this simply by having the main screen group the devices by "SNMP Location" string and we get our devices nicely divided by which site they are at.
However, the wireless package as far as I can tell is geared towards a single wireless "site". None of the reports really allow you to group by site easily. You could set up a separate section for each site and have it filter off that, but then you have to manually add a section for each and every WLAN you have, not very manageable.
I also don't see a way to easily make a different "map" for each location, for example, for our main screen we have a map of the US with our WAN drawn on it, you click on a city and you get some sort of diagram for that site. I can't figure out a way to integrate the WLAN stuff into these view, nor can I figure out how to create multiple WLAN diagrams and easily integrate them in the Wireless tab either...
Is this going to be addressed in newer versions of the package? Does anyone know?
