Good morning,
I'm trying to find a best practice for monitoring Juniper gear. We have various platforms: MX, QFX and EX in production. For Juniper gear when you go to List Resources for a node there are many elements to select when compared to Cisco. Here's an example for a single physical interface: xe-4/2/3 on an MX960.
Physical: xe-4/2/3
Physical with VLAN ID: xe-4/2/3.846
Aggregated Ethernet: ae41
Aggregated Ethernet with VLAN ID: ae41.846
The above is a snippet, the configuration for this interface actually has 13 VLANs configured for it so when you check List Resources for the node there are a total of 30 elements to select from and we're not sure if we should just be monitoring the single AE group (ae41 in this example), just the physical interface, the ae with VLAN ID, the physical with VLAN ID or all of the elements. We have NPM with the SLX license
If you have Juniper gear in your environment could you share how you are monitoring these platforms?
Thanks!
Briand
