Hello,
Thanks for the peek. One of our new security requirements is that all MSSQL instances need to be running in Windows Authentication mode, vs mixed mode...Essentially, managing MSSQL connects via AD instead of SQL users. I recalled that SolarWinds Orion (npm 12.0) used a SQL instance user. Once the instance authentication mode is changed to "Windows Authentication" this will prevent connects using SQL instance users and Orion no worky worky. So, I attempted to change this using the Configuration Wizard on the main poller, connected successfully using an appropriate (sysad) AD user, proceeded to the "Database Account" dialogue and was able to view the SQL logins on the instance using the pulldown menu, BUT ALWAYS returns "The sql user account password is not valid" even when I am 100% positive I am NOT fat-fingering it.
Q: Has anyone come across this situation?
Q: Could this be a bug in the config wizard? If so, is there a config file or registry entry somewhere where this could be modified instead on using the configuration wizard?
Q: is it as simple as, even though you can select any pre-existing sql login from the list, it simply NEEDS to be a SQL user?
ANY and ALL feedback is greatly asppreciated.
Thanks,
Tony
