Monitoring Transmit and Receive errors only.

We have a situation where we are using NPM to monitor some “Citrix XenServer PV Ethernet Adapter” on some virtual servers running Windows Server 2008. On a daily bases, those interfaces report anywhere between 20,000 and 70,000 transmit and receive discards known to be false positives.

Is there a way to disable transmit and receive discard monitoring on an interface while still persevering transmit and receive error monitoring on the same interface?

I think I am missing something. You say you want to disable it on an interface while still monitoring that on the same interface?

We had a similar issue on our main page. What we ended up doing is setting the errors and discards resource to display only in or out errors over XXX. that way we still see discards on the interface and other resources, but not on the main page.

SQL command we use on our NPM is as follows ( set to over 250 ) :

(InErrorsThisHour > 250) OR (OutErrorsThisHour > 250)

Just to clarify.

It is a good idea but in our case the threshold for transmit and receive discards would have to be 60,000 +. The majority of our nodes are remote routers across MPLS connections and we would want to know if they are reporting any amount of discards.
