Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Multiple Ping for device status
BakerD
We are running 7.5. Our server is in the US and we have 3 sites in China using VPN. Sometimes the first ping or two is dropped, but then devices start responding. Is there a way to account for this in NPM? Right now I get notifications of a device being down, then up again in a minute.
Thanks

you could change your monitoring tactics to set an object down only after a cirtain number of packets are dropped instead of just the first packet.......
It is in the preferences for the application and is global so it may or may not meet your needs

You may want to increase the time interval between when a node goes into warning and when it is considered down. In the NPM System Manger, under Advanced Settings, you will find a Node Warning Interval Tab. If you increase time, the node will have to miss more PINGS before it is condered down.
Also, since you are PINGing the other side of the planet, might also consider increasing your ICMP Timeout if you haven't done so already. I ususally set the ICMP Timeout on my Orion server to 2 to 3 times the worst ping time across my network.
