Last 25 Events resource times out with error

I am seeing an issue with some of my Orion views wherein all resources except the Last 25 Events load quite quickly. That resource tries for 20-30 seconds, and then times out with an error mentioning a problem with the SolarWinds Information Service.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Try updating the EventTypes table and set it to not record and not notify for events about 'Thin AP Disappeared'.

UPDATE EventTypes

SET

Record = 0

,Notify = 0

WHERE Name = 'Thin AP Disappeared'

Do you have a lot of events/long retention time for events set? I've had that behavior before, for some reason the Last 25 events query is more resource intensive than viewing all events using the Events resource.

The Events retention settings is at the default of 30 days, but the Events table has over 23 million rows in it. Additionally, the event with the most occurrences is for "Thin AP disappeared". There were over 790,000 of those just in the last 24 hours.

Is there any way to keep that event type from clogging up the database?
