I upgraded to Orion NPM 9 today and the biggest feature I was looking forward to was the ability to monitor VMWare ESX server.
However, I'm a little dissapointed after I set it up. Orion NPM now recognizes ESX as VMWare ESX server, but it still only monitors the service console resources vs. overall system resource usage.
Now as I've done some research on the net, I see this is a common question with no definitive answer, and I'm not faulting Solarwinds for this, but advertising "monitoring of ESX server now!" is kind of misleading.
Is anyone using Orion to monitor overall VM Host CPU and memory utilization? If so, how are you doing it? All of the CPU utilization MIBs I've seen return the number of seconds a processor has been in use, not a 0-100% value I can graph on.
