Is there a way to make the node search box appear everywhere other than manually adding it to every single page? Maybe I can add it as a menu item. I will look.

You can certainly create a view in a menu bar, but I'm not sure that would gain you anything. You'd still be going to another page to get to the search Nodes webpart. Can you explain a little bit more about what you want to accomplish?
