Procedures for configuring SQL for Orion

Does anyone know where I might find a document, knowledge base article, video, etc describing how to configure SQL Server for use with Orion?

It seems like I recently saw a reference to such a thing somewhere recently, but now I cannot find it anywhere on Thwack or the SolarWinds website.

Does anyone remember seeing such?

Hopefully a real DBA will answer your question eventually but until then

You may find you need to:
(1) Configure SQL Server 2008 to allow remote connections
Enable TCP/IP
Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager
SQL Server Configuration Manager (local) -> SQL Server Network Configuration -> Protocols for SQLEXPRESS
Right click on "TCP/IP" in the list of Protocols and choose, "Enable"
(2) Enable SQL browsing
(3) Enable MS Firewall --[ you probably want more specific rules than the following
netsh firewall set portopening protocol = TCP port = 1103 name = SQLPort mode = ENABLE scope = ALL profile = CURRENT
netsh firewall set portopening protocol = UDP port = 1434 name = SQLBrowserPort mode = ENABLE scope = ALL profile = CURRENT
(4) Add Microsoft SQL Server CLR Types
(5) Enable full text searching
(6) If you do not want to use sa account during install, create an account with db_owner and db_securityadmin roles
