ORION SQL & Summary Page Refresh

Hi,

I'm currently running ORION with SQL Server 2005 Express on the same box. I would like to upgrade to the SQL Workgroup Edition without un-installing ORION or SQL 2005 Express. Has anyone attempted an SQL upgrade of this kind or experienced any issues with ORION in doing so???

My secong question is I have a PC logged into ORION showing the summary screen with network map. This is projected via a 42" LCD. How do I adjust the refresh frequency of Internet Explorer so the ORION page updates more frequently?

Log into the website, and go to Admin > Settings, and change the Page Refresh time.

On the Orion website, click Admin then Settings. The third option is "Page Refresh". This is a global setting and will affect all of the pages in Orion that auto-refresh.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with Internet Explorer not refreshing after a certain amount of time?

If I leave Internet Exploder open for too many days it stops refreshing. A manual refresh works but it just will not do it on its own.

Firefox on the other hand works fine.

I have had this problem with the Orion main page and IE not refreshing after a couple days from the beginning. Solarwinds tech support had no idea what the problem could be. Might have to try Firefox I guess.

I've noticed that if I drill into a device or interface from one of our summary views and then use the browser "Back" button to go back to the previous view, that it will sometimes stop refreshing. Once I click on the menu bar item representing that summary view, it starts refreshing again. We have seen this in all of the 7.x releases that we've run, and we are an IE shop.

I've seen the exact same behaviour you described vhcato.
Just clicking on the Orion Home page tab starts the refresh again.

We have the same issue with IE something not refreshing

Has this refresh issue with IE been resolved? Still experiencing this issue with IE 6.0.2900.2180 sp2.

More importantly, what version of Orion are you using? The current version is 8.5.1 SP2. We have not heard about this issue for a long time.

Orion 8.0.67

As the issue was reported to only exist in IE6, I figured that it wasn't an issue with Orion itself but the browser.

If the current version of Orion resolves this, I'll propose to update to it.
