Application Alerts

I am somewhat new to this, and I have the application monitoring, and want to get an email anytime one of the applications goes down or restarts. I see them in the events now, but want to get emailed. I have the beta alerts running, but can't seem to figure out the right combinations.
THANKS

In the beta alert engine, create a new alert and on the Trigger Condition tab, make sure you select Applications from the dropdown box.

I ran into the same issue. What confused me is that after installing the beta alert engine, the old alert engine is still there and my exsiting alerts still run from there. You will have two alert engine interfaces. Run the Alert Manager from your start menu to get to the new one. Application monitoring alerts are in there.
Cheers
