SLX V8.1 remote poller install ???

I'm currently moving my SLX remote poller to a newer server.
As I'm watching the install & see some strange things & am wondering if this happens in V8.5.1 as well.
Keep in mind this is a remote poller, so there is NO IIS web server running on this server.

Firstly, I see all the maps, icons and gifs are installed on this server.
Secondly all default Reports and Schemas are also installed.
Thirdly it asks for Microsoft dotnet2.0 install. My understanding is this is .ASP code required for IIS.

Has this been fixed in V8.5.1?
If not, then it seem the remote poller has not been packaged very well & is adding a lot of unneccesary components to what should be a basic polling engine only install.

NG,

No, it's still in 8.5.1. I can't explain the maps, but I imagine some of the icons and gifs are used in displaying the local GUI's like System Manager, as well as for the shortcuts on the Start menu and such. Also, I was told that some of the dotnet files are used in some way (how, I don't know).

Moving the poller to a newer box with Win2k3 SP2 installed did not improve the SNMP data polling.
The System Manager is still sluggish and lagging on the new server, and the gaps are still there :-(

It might be time to look at moving the polling server out of my Data Center, 1500 miles to the West, so it can keep the DB server warm.

OK, so I was doing so further troubleshooting on the SNMP polling - gap issue.
I downloaded SysInternals ProcessMonitor tool & ran it on both my main & remote pollers.

The log is full of these error messages for the NetPerfMonService.exe process:

Event Class: Registry
Operation: RegOpenKey
Path: HKLM\Software\Solarwinds.Net\ICMP\Settings
Result: NAME NOT FOUND

I opened the registry and there is no ICMP key in either server's registry.
Can someone check the registry on their V8.5 server an see if they can find this key?

If this does exist, what are the strings and values on your server?

NG, I checked on my 8.5.1 Orion host server and one of my polling engines and I don't see that reg key on either of them. I think the idea of co-locating all your Orion server components is probably a good idea.
