I recently encountered a strange problem with Orion Network Performance Monitor. Few days back, we stopped receiving all the alerts that we have configured in Orion under Basic Alerts (we have configured a bunch of different alerts). When I looked at the events and the active alerts in Orion, I see that all the events are triggered and the Alerts are generated in the logs but we never get an email as its action. When I perform a test alerts from Basic Alerts, I receive an email properly without any problems but Orion does not send me alerts for triggered events. There is nothing that has changed on the Orion settings.
As a test, I tried creating an Advanced Alerts and surprisingly I get proper triggered alerts from Advanced alerts but not from Basic Alerts.I have tried restarting the Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor service and the Solarwinds Alerting Engine service but the problem persists.Since test alerts are working fine, I do not see any problem with SMTP and since Advanced alerts are also working fine, I do not see any problem with the Alert Engine.
Does anyone have any clue regarding the solution to this problem? Any inputs to this will be highly appreciated. The version details are as follows:
