Thinking about running NPM on Cisco UCS but I am somewhat confused with the UCS nomenclature and productline. Would love to hear from a fellow thwacker whose dealt with this scenario, any gotchas and pros and cons?
No gotchas. It's just a server on steroids. If you're thinking the blade series, that's a serious waste of money unless it will be virtualized.
Otherwise, you can get a hefty system for a decent price on the C series (rack mount version).
And yes, I've run a poller and a separate SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise cluster on UCS.
