Cannot load Network Map

I just installed Orion 8.1 hot fixes 1 through 4, as well as NTA 2.1 hot fixes 1 and 2. Now when I access the web interface of my Orion server I get the error "Cannot load Network Map from "C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Maps\CampusMap.OrionMap"

Yes, this worked before installing the hot fixes and I've verified that the map exists at that location. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Almost forgot, I have the additional web server option and haven't installed any hot fixes on that machine yet. The map displays perfectly from the additional web server machine, but not from my recently hot fixed main Orion server.

I just did a test install yesterday of 8.1 with the hotfixes and my network map wouldn't show as well (I don't have the add-ons/modules you have). I ended up uninstalling/reinstalling, which worked for me.

I don't know if installing over the existing install would have worked or if you there is a repair option.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone, but there must be a better way to resolve this then to reinstall. It might be time to open a support ticket. I guess I was just hoping I wouldn't have to, and that someone else had already gone though the trouble and could share the fix.

We just bumped up from 7.8 to 8.5 SP3 and after a week of running fine, we just experienced the same issue, with the same fix. We re-ran the Config Wizard, but I would bet good money that just restarting the Web Service would have gotten the maps back.

I found the other thread that covers reseting permissions on the directory. Hopefully that will be the permanent fix.

I am having a similar problem, however not exactly...

When I originally created the map it worked like a charm. This morning I deleted all the nodes and ran the discovery again, and the maps stopped showing (any maps). Instead i see the numeral '2' in their place.

I have renamed the map, created a new map, set all permissions on the folder to be as relaxed as possible, I have run the configuration for the website again and all to no avail.

I am running 8.5

Are there anyother details I shoudl include?

My Greetings to everybody,

I'm having the same problem concerning loading of maps, instead of them magic number "2" appears.

The problem began when I started to change SolarWinds related folder permissions.

V7 is running on my web server.

Looking forward to get some advice

Just to update on my situation.

I don't know what I did, as I have been fiddling with a variety of things, but the map works now.

Hi,

I have the exact problem, and I'm using Orion NPM v8.5.1 with SP3. I've opend lots of tickets to SolarWinds support, but they couldn't figure out a reliable solution for it. As a workaround, I'm unloading COM + application Dor SolarWinds Orion NPM (from Orion Service Manager) every time the problem occur (in this way it takes only a few seconds to solve the problem without running Configuration Wizard for Website services or restarting Orion services).

The only problem with this workaround is that the problem occurs once around 2 maybe 3 days (I don't know exactly why) and I need to use the workaround once for every 2-3 days.

I need to know if there's anyone who's running the newest vershin of Orion (I think it's 9.1 with SP2) has encountered this problem.

As it happens I'm now running Orion V9.1 SP1 (the latest version according to this : www.solarwinds.com/.../supported_products.aspx )

I must admit that I haven't been keeping an eye out for this problem since I upgraded to the current version. I can't remember see the issue 'for a while' so I think it might have been fixed (maybe...).

My suggestion is upgrade asap: at the very least you'll benefit from the new featues etc of V9.1 compares to 8.5.1

So have people confirmed that the issue has been resolved in the SP's for 9.1?

Once we went to version 8.5 the problem became more apparent. I can pretty much cause it simply by having a lot of graphing requests hitting the server. By a lot I mean, me with multiple tabs open on SW & one or two other users running the Home page.

It happens almost every week now. It will fail and the overnight reports will all or mostly be broken. The workaround (re-config web or reboot server) works, but it's way too frequent.
