Switch stack members appearing multiple times

I have noticed that many of my switches that are in a stack are appearing numerous times in the switch stack member list. The model, serial, and MACs are all the same. There are only two switches in this stack but they appear 17 times each. It happens more often than not and makes the inventory report much larger than it should be.

Is this the built in switch stack resources for Cisco switch stacks, or something else that you've created? I had a similar issue with a custom resource that I did for Aruba switch stacks where the stacks were polled with a Universal Device Poller. The issue was with my query. If what you are seeing is something similar, I can try to dig up that query.

Built in. We were having some other problems that led us to so a fresh re-install SLW on a new server and since then the issue seemed to have cleared itself up in the Device Summary. I still come across this issue in my reports though. I am sure that an SQL query could refine it some but that is above my current skill set. Trying to rectify that but in the meantime I'd like to figure out how to use the built in tools to filter out the multiples.

We have this same switch issue.

We solved it with a custom SAM MIB poller for the same MIB(s) that the built in poller uses. It lacks some of the finesse of the built in poller but its working. This duplication also causes accuracy problems. It often wont report the real status. We lost a switch at 4am, no alerts or status was registered in solarwinds. we found out at 8am users started calling. It would have been nice to catch at 4am when we could have prevented user impact.

Unfortunately we have been told by support that this is a bug that development is working on. We do not have a timeline for fix.

Another option which I didnt really like was to use alerts based on snmp traps.

Walk 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.500.1.1 to ensure this matches the number of switches in the stack. I have seen this poll double. If polling as expected , try removing the offending stack and rediscover.

I see the same problem in the List of Switch Stacks where it shows a device up twice and it says it has double the Member Count.

To fix I had to delete the device and add it back in.

same question here guys. Any way to clean it up without removing a node? I don't want to lose stats and re-do all maps
