Monitoring Number of Connected Users on Cisco APs
aSquared
Hi there. Does anybody know if SWO is able to monitor the number of users connected per AP for the Cisco Aironet?
I am monitoring hundreds of APs in different buildings. At present, I am using MRTG to perform the above. I was thinking of doing away with MRTG since SWO is able to provide several statisitcs such as B/W utilization and Packet Losses.
Hope anyone can assist. Thanks

Hello,
No. Orion will not monitor the number of associated users on an AP at this time. You could either use the SW toolset to monitor this value or continue to use MRTG and hook the MRTG graphs to your device views in Orion. You could do a little custom HTML to imbed the MRTG graphs on the node page or create a link on the node page to the MRTG graphs.
Be fantastic.

The SolarWinds Wireless Networks Management Pack for Orion is in beta now and will be releasing soon. You can monitor connected users, traffic, signal quality, and more depending upon which type of WAP you're using. If you're interested in using the beta, send an e-mail to Support@SolarWinds.Net attn: Wireless Networks Beta Program and we'll get it out to you.
Thanks,
Josh Stephens
