Orion 8.1 Hotfix 4 available

Orion HotFix 4

Hotfix 4 resolves an issue with Orion services crashing shortly after

the service starts. The affected services are:

SolarWinds Alerting Service

SolarWinds SysLog Service

SolarWinds Trap Service

SolarWinds Custom MIB Polling Service

This hotfix requires Orion version 8.1.

To install this hotfix, run Orion8.1Hotfix4.exe

The following files, using the default installation path, are

updated during the execution of the hotfix:

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\AlertEngine.exe

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\OrionCustomPollingService.exe

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\SyslogService\SyslogService.exe

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\TrapService\SWTrapService.exe

The hotfix works great!! I thought the startup issue was something we were doing stupid......

Is there any thought of publishing a "Known Caveats" list as part of the readme's in a hotfix?

What if you do not have Orion installed in the default directory? I can't use this fix but I am having the problems that this hotfix repairs but my installation is on another drive.

the hotfix does check the install path from the registry so it should install properly-

Okay; I know its early(5:30) but is Hotfix 4 to be installed on all servers (Orion,HSB, and Polling engines) or just the main Orion server?

Is there a reason this Hotfix has been removed from the ftp site?

It should be there-

It works for me. Anything blocking FTP sites on your end?

I can get to the zip file but I don't see the Hotfix 4 contained inside it.

It is there- click on the Hotfix 4 and it should contain the date of 6/27/07

I guess I shouldn't have installed the HotFix if I wasn't having the issue. It appears that the HotFix 4 actually caused my alerting service to crash soon after starting. I reverted back to my original binaries, but it still crashes
