Clean up configurations (Views, Views by Application Type)

1. When I list the Manage Views there are many duplicate views, sometimes with the same name and some times with "(1)" around it. From what I can see the views are identical. What would the ramifications be to delete the duplicate views? What do I need to look out for? Can they be backed up before hand?

2. There are many Application Types that will never be used. Is there a way to remove the Application Types (in the Views by Application Type page) that will never be used?

Bonus: I thought about also asking about the Actions listed in the Action manager but wasn't sure if I wanted to know the answer to it. We have 750+ actions. So as a bonus, in your opinion is it even worth trying to trim them down or just leave them as is? Any suggestions on how to go about it?

The views and actions tables are relatively small in terms of SQL tables, so there is almost no direct performance gain to be had from cleaning them up,  but in terms of general housekeeping there is a case to be made for keeping your instance neat and orderly.  It's probably not a major priority though.  

There's no built in way to back up views  (although I've got a scripted solution for that I've been developing)

I think if you delete the extra views by application type they will get re-added during future upgrades.   I personally hate that behavior but it is what it is.

Likewise,  your action list seems longer than necessary,  but if you just delete all the alerts you don't use it will clean that up.   Future upgrades will try to re-add the ootb alerts though.
