Network Atlas AD Authentication

Maybe I'm missing something but Network Atlas doesn't seem to let us login using AD creds. I had to create a local Orion user in order to facilitate map changes.

Is there a way to do this with AD users? None of my systems use local accounts they are all domain controlled, and I would have to go through multiple Orion systems and create new users to enable this.

I had a thought right after I posted my last reply. When you create a domain account in Orion Domain\Username you still have to fill out the password even though it looks up in AD I guess it's a placeholder.

So I reset the local password on one of my AD admin accounts via orion and tried logging into Network Atlas using the AD username with the local Orion password and that worked. This is much less of a task to reset passwords on 9 servers compared to duplicating 5 accounts on 9 servers.

Is AD Credentials on the roadmap for Atlas? I would hope so due to the number of posts that reference AD Pass-through on the website. Obviously this is a feature used by several users.

Only users who have Orion NPM node management rights or Orion EOC administrator roles may run Orion Network Atlas.

These are users with admin and nodemanagement rights. The error message is

Could not log in. User name or password is not valid.

We only have this issue with AD users (DOMAIN\Username)

Network Atlas currently requires Orion users, and does not work with AD user credentials.

So I have to duplicate user accounts across 9 different Orion servers??? Great.

Hi mdriskell,

Right now, adding users in the Orion Account Manager is the only way to let them use Orion Network Atlas to modify the NPM maps. This answer doesn't make it any easier for you to give your folks map access, and I acknowledge your frustration about that.
