Replacing PRTG with Solarwinds. I currently have a router monitored using ICMP only with a device behind the router using the same public IP address monitored for SNMP only. Does anyone know how to do this with Solarwinds NPM?
You can create multiple devices within NPM that share the same IP, or even hostname.
In your case you can simply recreate what you've described: create 2 objects in NPM with the same IP, each using a different polling method (1 ICMP only, 1 SNMP).
What version of NPM are you using? As you can't have 2 devices with the same IP in NPM in version 11.
I've had this with both 10.x and 11.x.
Just tested and confirmed.
When adding a node with a duplicate IP I did get a warning that it is already monitored but I am given the option of choosing a different polling engine to assign the duplicate node to.
This was the first time I've intentionally tried adding a duplicate node - I have no idea how the previous instances I've found were added.
