Custom Metrics on Nodes

Hi Guys,

does any one know how you add customer metrics on nodes for example on an environmental monitoring unit, i have a customer poller for the temperature and would like to make that a metric so that i can get warnings ect,

temp = 20C = Green

temp = 26C =Yellow

temp = 30C =Red

you help is much appreciated

Are you wanting a single set of thresholds/metrics (like your green, yellow, red) listed above or are you wanting to have a different set of thresholds/metrics for each node?

We have several APC envriomental monitoring units, that are ip based it netbotz 200 rack Monitor, i have the customer pollers working to report the temperate of probes, and have created alerts around this, i would like to add a customer metric for these devices as listed above, so that i can have a Light on the map to indicate envriomental status.

Hi Jeremy,

you could assign custom properties to these nodes (e.g. red,green,yellow) and assign the values for them.

you could then create an advanced sql report in report writer that shows whatever you like plus whichever light you want to have.

the report would have to return "Up.gif",Down.gif"Warning.gif" or something like that, just look in orion for the status symbols you are looking for and check its filename.

PS: if you like I can send you an example report, I think I still might have a report I did for harddrives with only one custom property, if its below that value it shows a green light, if its above that value it shows a yellow light and if its above 90 it shows a red light, those static numbers could be replaced with custom properties.

im not sure if i have explained myself propery,

against a particular node in the enviroment i have several universal device pollers;

these pollers return a particular interger value,

i would like to create metrics around these values,

if you need any more information please let me know.
