Dependencies and Multiple Parents.

I am trying to determine if this is possible. I want to setup a Dependency from multiple nodes to a single group. (i.e. Node 1 = Switch1, Node 2 = Switch2)

My questions is, if i do this and Node1 goes down, but node 2 is still up, will my group report unavailable or up?

Just upgraded to 10.1.2 and am wanting to take advantage of this funtionality.

So your parent is a group with Switch 1 and Switch 2 and the children are node 1 and node 2, is this correct?

I am also looking to setup multiple parents for a group of nodes. For example each of our Sites is a group but we have our main link to the cloud and a backup link, typically slower. Also sometimes within a site we have a sub network that is seperated by multiple firewalls. In this case I believe I would also need multiple parents to a group.

This would be nice, in a number of setups we have a dedicated line and a backup line (slower), we only want the dependencie option activated when the 2 parents are down. If one parent is down nothing is wrong and we should only see the one parent as down.

Create a group that contains the two parents. Make sure the group status reports "combined" status, not "worst" status (ie: if one is down and one is up, the group status is warning, not down.)

Now make that group the parent of the children. You will only have dependencies activated if both of the parent devices are down.

Looks good, though i have to check if one of the parents is down what will happen. so far it seems ok, thanks.
