Problem sending mail with Syslog and Traps
Fenclo
I have a problem when I try to send an e-mail when a Trap or a Syslog message is catch. I tested to send me all traps from my server and nothing. My services are running and I can see my current traps and Syslog messages.
But if I setup rules in NetPerfMon Alerts, it's OK. I receive all my messages.
Anyone have a solution ?

I have a similar problem with Traps. When I define an action of send an email message in the Trap Viewer application no action is taken. There is no evidence from my smtp server logs that a connection was even attempted by the trap service.
Actions to change the colour of the message and log to the Event Log on the local Windows machine work, however the SMTP portion of the trap service seems to be broken.

The forward trap action works correctly as well... just smtp woes

You are correct - the current beta release of the Orion Trap Receiver has an issue and will not send out alerts via e-mail. We should have a fix for this available eithin a few weeks.
Please let us know if you see any other issues and thank you for your support.

Ric & all:
Until the new Orion trap release is posted; a work-around for getting E-mails to work from the TrapViewer rules is as follows: In the rule you are creating with an E-mail action, put an E-mail address in the TO, the .CC and the .BCC fields and your E-mail should send correctly.
